Aura Equity is a family-owned multifamily real estate investment firm dedicated to helping passive investors grow wealth and achieve financial freedom. We co-invest in multifamily properties that generate cash flow, appreciate in value, and offer significant tax advantages.

Specializing in syndicated deals, we pool capital with our investors to acquire, enhance, and sell multifamily assets, typically holding them for 3-5 years. Since 2020, we’ve built a portfolio of 20 properties with over 4,500 units across Texas and three other states. Our managing partners bring additional expertise, with investments in more than 60 other multifamily assets since 2015.

Our Story

Aura Equity was born from a shared journey between Jeff and Austin Shafer—a father and son who discovered the power of multifamily real estate to transform financial futures. Jeff, a corporate executive and military veteran, spent years following the traditional path of stocks and savings. In 2014, a two-day seminar opened his eyes to the potential of multifamily investing, sparking a new chapter of financial growth and legacy building. Austin, inspired by his father’s success, joined the journey in 2020. Together, they merged decades of business experience with a shared vision: to create a family-owned firm dedicated to helping others achieve financial freedom through real estate.

Jeff brings over 30 years of expertise in business strategy, product management, technology commercialization, and leadership. Since 2015, he has been an active multifamily investor, building his current portfolio of over 50 properties with more than 10,000 units, plus another 30+ assets that have gone full cycle.

As a product management executive at a leading global connectivity provider, Jeff manages a $250M portfolio and drives innovation and growth initiatives. His career spans roles in business strategy, product development, and marketing across established enterprises and startups.

Jeff began his professional journey as a U.S. Army military intelligence officer. He holds an MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin and a B.S. in Engineering from Arizona State University.

Based in Dallas, Texas, Jeff combines his extensive business acumen with a passion for helping others achieve financial freedom through real estate investing.

Austin brings over eight years of experience in business management, consulting, revenue assurance, and corporate compliance. Since 2020, he has been an active multifamily investor, contributing to a portfolio of 20 properties with over 4,500 units across Texas and three other states.

As a business manager and consultant, Austin has successfully led projects that increased revenue, reduced costs, and improved net operating income for organizations ranging from small businesses to large enterprises.

Austin holds an MBA from the Carson College of Business at Washington State University and a B.S. in Healthcare Administration from Sam Houston State University. He has also earned certifications in areas such as finance, management, and data analysis from institutions including Wharton Online, Six Sigma Global Institute, and Break Into CRE.

Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Austin combines his business expertise and passion for real estate to help investors achieve their financial goals.
